The roots of Çolakoğlu’s commercial operations reach back to an iron & steel trade shop that Mehmet Rüştü Çolakoğlu founded in İstanbul’s Karaköy district in 1945. Çolakoğlu’s first rolling mill commenced operations in Sütlüce, also in İstanbul, in 1960. To address its need for billets, in 1968 Çolakoğlu established its first steel mill in Dilovası. Çolakoğlu Metalurji expanded its product line with the introduction of wire rod in 1985 and with the addition of ribbed rebar in 1990. With the steelworks and hot-rolled coil production investments that were initiated in 2005 and with the commissioning of its hot-rolling mill in 2010, Çolakoğlu Metalurji became one of the pioneer firms in Turkey’s iron & steel industry. Our mills are capable of producing an extensive lineup of HRC products ranging from thicknesses of 1.1 mm to 25.4 mm and from widths of 800 mm to 1,650 mm suitable for cold-forming at one end and to petroleum pipe on the other. During its first half-century of existence, Çolakoğlu Metalurji’s production consisted only of so-called “long products”–billets, rebar, wire rod, and ribbed coils. With the commissioning of its new investments in 2010, the company began shifting some of its production capacity away from long products and turning its attentions to flat products with higher added-value products suitable for manufacturing tubing & pipes, automotive components (including rims), agricultural tools, and machinery and construction equipment. The company has achieved significant progress especially in the homologation of its automotive components and wheel rims. As one of the leading firms in the Turkish iron & steel industry, our mission is to constantly move our sector forward one step at a time. Atakas Steel’s production facilities are located in the Hatay region of Turkey and produces pickled, cold rolled, galvanized and pre-painted coils, with an annual output capacity of 1.2 million metric tons at high-tech equipment. Steel Foreign Trade Association, headquartered in Istanbul; was established with the aim to ensure the development of domestic and foreign trade of iron and steel products and to support individuals and organizations working in this field. The association mainly operates on subjects such as strengthening the professional and technical cooperation between the companies and business people that import and export steel products; providing information to the sector companies; conducting training activities; providing solutions to the problems within the sector and sharing them with the relevant parties.

Turkish Steel Pipe Manufacturers Association is a non-profit organization which was founded in 1996 in order to develop Turkish steel pipe industry, contribute to manufacturing of goods that national industry needs and strengthening members’ competitiveness in international markets. The Association now has 19 eminent members that account for 95 % of Turkey’s total steel pipe production.Members’ annual production capacities vary between 100.000 and 1.000.000 metric tons. All members manufacture steel pipes in accordance with international standards including ISO, EN and TSE.

Steel Exporters' Association is one of six associations which has been operating under the body of General Secretariat of Istanbul Mineral and Metals Exporters' Association (IMMIB). The Association is a non-profit business organization of more than 2,000 companies representing the largest steel producers and exporters in the Turkish steel industry. It carries on its operations with the aim of increasing the export potential of the Turkish steel industry and paves the way for Turkish steel producers/exporters, with main objective to foster and attain sustainable global steel market based on free and fair trade. The Association also solves the problems of its member companies face at home and abroad, provides contact between members and foreign importers in order to ease the export processes, serves up-to-date domestic and global market news, reports and analyses.

SOGAD (Association of Cold Rolled, Galvanized and Coated Coil Manufacturers) is formed by 6 organizations operating in flat steel production. Our organizations are also members of the Turkish Steel Exporters’ Association operating under İMMİB (İstanbul Mineral and Metals Exporters’ Association).

Turkish Iron and Steel Producers Association was established in 1970 with the goal of: promoting Turkish Iron and Steel Industry to the level of the ones in the developed countries; developing a structure which can keep up with the global developments of all aspects; compiling and disseminating the statistical information concerning the Iron and Steel Industry in Turkey and the world; discussing the problems that our members face; proposing solutions and applying all lawful means to solve those problems. It has been continuing its activities in parallel with the goals of establishment since 1970. Our association with 25 member companies represented the 98 % of Turkey’s total the crude steel production in 2011. The activities of Turkish Iron and Steel Producers Association is not limited to inside the borders of Turkey, it also actively represents Turkish iron and steel industry at international level through European Steel Association (EUROFER), Worldsteel Association (worldsteel) and OECD.

Flat Steel Import, Export and Industry Association has been founded in the year 2003 by the founder president Mustafa Açıkalın for the purpose of gathering flat steel importers, exporters and traders together with the industrialists who are engaged in manufacturing using flat steel, under one roof in an effective way; establishing cooperation and solidarity; working on the identification and solution of the requirements and problems of the industry.
