Mr. Ezz is the founder and chairman of Ezz Industries. He represents a 3rd generation of an Egyptian family investing in the construction industry followed by the trade in construction material. He founded Ezz Steel in 1991 and for nearly three decades has led the company to become the largest steel producer in the Arab World and the African continent, the first ever private-sector company to be elevated to such status. Ezz Steel is also the largest industrial group in Egypt, employing around 10 thousand workers, with a production capacity of 7 million tons of finished steel and generating an annual turnover of circa $4.3 billion. In 2020 and 2021, Ezz Steel was included in Worldsteel’s Top Steel Makers List. Mr. Ezz’s achievements in the steel industry have been recognized at multiple occasions. In 2008, Mr Ezz became the first Chairman of ‘The Arab Iron & Steel Union’ to come from the private sector. In 2010, he was awarded the Willy Korf/Ken Iverson Steel Vision Award for making the ‘greatest contribution to the development of a local steel industry, turning it into a global player’. In 2017, upon recommendations from fellow steel producers in the Arab World, Mr. Ezz was named ‘The Arab Iron & Steel Man of the Year’. In 2021, Mr. Ezz steered Ezz Steel to become Egypt’s largest industrial exporter on record, with exports reaching 1.4 million tons with a value $1.3 billion. Mr. Ezz holds a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Cairo University.
Alexander Gordienko was born in Russia. He graduated in economics and management from N. Novgorod University. After his graduation, he worked in banking in Russia and the UK. In 1999, he joined Stemcor. In 2009, he began working at Celsa Group where he currently continues his career as an export director.
Chief Economist in UNESID, he is an active member of the committees related with his activity in international steel associations like EUROFER and WORLDSTEEL and downstream like ESTA and CIELFFA. He also coordinates the Logistics Committee in UNESID. He was previously engaged in strategic consultancy, economic research and academy. His academic background includes a first degree in engineering (UPM - Madrid) and postgraduate education: MBA (IE Business School - Madrid), MSc Finance (Birkbeck College - U. of London).
Bulent R. Hacioglu is a founder and managing partner at Trade Resources Company. He has advised numerous companies in United States, Canada and Europe in a full range of trade remedy cases as well as on trade policy and compliance. Mr. Hacioglu is one of the most notable exports in antidumping investigations and has won numerous victories for its clients in various jurisdictions including U.S., Canada, EU, Australia, Brazil, Turkey, Singapore, Egypt and Indonesia. He has been recognized by Who’s Who Legal several times as a leading economist and antidumping consultant and a global elite thought leader. Mr. Hacioglu has participated in several high profile U.S. and EU trade remedy investigations involving steel products such as OCTG, hot rolled coil, rebar, wire rod and corrosion resistant steel.
Mr. Frank ZHONG is Deputy Director General of the World Steel Association and Chief Representative of the association’s office in Beijing. His main focus includes the outlook of the global steel industry as well as steelmaking raw materials market. He has been in charge of a variety of studies on steel demand, steelmaking capacity, raw materials outlook, monitoring the development of emerging economies in particular China, India and ASEAN, and a survey on the global railway system. He was invited to get involved in IEA’s Global Iron and Steel Technology Roadmap project as well as the EU’s raw materials strategy study. Prior to the World Steel Association, Mr. Zhong had a variety of career experiences with China’s leading steel producer Baosteel Group and the Australian mining company Rio Tinto. Frank Zhong obtained his Bachelor Degree in Iron & Steel Metallurgy from the University of Science and Technology Beijing, and an MBA degree from the Tsinghua University, Beijing.
Jessica’s practice focuses on trade remedy actions, including antidumping and countervailing duty matters before the US Department of Commerce and the US International Trade Commission. She also advocates for clients in related litigation before the US Court of International Trade and the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
Professor Pedro Videla is Head of the Economics Department at IESE Business School. He holds a Ph.D. and an MA in Economics, both from the University of Chicago. His areas of specialization include macroeconomics, international economies and emerging economies. He has been visiting professor in more than 20 universities around the world, such as Reykjavik University, Strathmore University, CEIBS, Nile University, Wharton Business School, etc. As a consultant Prof. Videla has been involved in projects with institutions such as the World Bank, IMF, EU and the IADB.
Mr. Yayan got B.A. degrees from Faculty of Political Sciences of Ankara University in 1977 and Faculty of Law of the Istanbul University in 1987. Then he got his PhD degree from the Istanbul University Faculty of Economics in 1997. Mr. Yayan has diplomas from University of Michigan on Economy of Development and Population; from the University of Sussex on Labor Market Information System and Japan Int. Coop. Agency on Development and improvement of Employment. Mr. Veysel Yayan started his career as Reporter at the Republic of Turkey, Ministry of Trade in 1976. Then he worked at State Planning Organization, as Expert and Undersecretariat of Defense Industries, as Head of Department, Deputy Undersecretary and Acting Undersecretary until he retired in 1998. After serving 22 years for government from expert to Undersecretary levels between 1976-1998, he was appointed as Secretary General to the Turkish Steel Producers Association in 1998. On 25 September 2017, Dr. Yayan was appointed as Undersecretary to Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology. In August 2018, Yayan retired from government and returned to his position as Secretary General of Turkish Steel Producers Association. In addition to this position, Dr. Yayan has been the President of TOBB Ferrous and Nonferrous Metals Assembly since 2007.
