Alessandro Sciamarelli

Alessandro Sciamarelli holds the position of Director of Economic Studies and Market Analysis at the European Steel Association (EUROFER) based in Brussels, where he carries out economic research and analysis linked to the steel sector. Prior to joining EUROFER, he held for over ten years equivalent positions at other Brussels-based European associations (namely in the mortgage lending sector and the cement sector) and, before that, he worked for the Economic Studies Office of a leading cement and construction group in Rome and for the European Institute of Public Administration (EIPA) in Maastricht. He holds a PhD in Economics (1999) and a degree in political science (1995) from the University of Pisa, Italy.

The Duferco group had a turnover of over 27 billion dollars in 2023 and it is present with its offices in 30 countries in the world with more than 2,500 employees.Since November 2023,Mr. Antonio Gozzi is Vice President of Duferco Participations Holding S.A.,the top holding company of Duferco group.He has also been President and CEO of Duferco Italia Holding S.p.A.,the company that has been organing the Italian presence of the multinational group since 1995.The Italian activities of the Duferco group,which give employment to around 1000 people, s are mainly present in the following regions: Lombardy, Piedmont, Liguria, Emilia, Tuscany, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Calabria and Sicily.Amongst the Italian activities, Duferco Travi & Profilati S.p.A. distinguish itself for being the most important Italian manufacturer of steel beams for construction. Cinzia Vezzosi

Cinzia Vezzosi graduated in Foreign Languages from the State University of Milan and in 1996 she entered OVERMET GROUP, where, as Board Member and Managing Director of one of the Companies of the Group, she first landed in the world of metal trading, metal recycling and waste procedures. In 2004 she founded ZETAMET, a company for metal trading on exclusive basis, and soon became a Member of ASSOFERMET (Italian Association of Metal Recovery and Recycling Enterprises). Since 2013 she is Member of the Price Commission for ferrous and non-ferrous metals at the Chamber of Commerce of Milan. She was elected President of ASSOFERMET METALS Division in 2015 and in 2016 joined EURIC Board as EFR President. She was EuRIC President from March 2019 to March 2022 and since April 2022 she sits in the Board of AIM (Italian Association of Metallurgy). She presently covers the role of Vice President in EuRIC and in May 2024 she was elected President of ASSOFERMET.

Meltem Alim Atmaca

Director of International Marketing and Sales, International Trading / Erdemir

Meltem Alim Atmaca, is graduated from Istanbul Technical University with a master’s degree in Management Business Administration Engineering, (Executive MBA) (2000 – 2001) and has a Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical and Material Engineering from the same university (1994 – 1998). She completed her high school education at Kadıköy Anatolian High School in 1992 and Lefkoşa Turkish Maarif College in 1989. Having 26 years of experience in her total business life, she spent 21 years at Erdemir. She started her career at Hyundai Assan (1998-2001), CNR Holding (2001-2002) and Erdemir Steel Service Center (2002-2010) and spent her 8 years in Erdemir Steel Service Center for Automotive Key Account Management. She was then promoted to Erdemir as International Marketing and Sales Manager for Global Customers (2010-2014). She worked for Strategic Planning Department as a PMO Manager (2015-2020). Following these various positions at Erdemir, Meltem Alim Atmaca is currently in charge of Marketing and Sales Department at Erdemir as the International Trade Director since June 2020.

Paolo Sangoi

Paolo Sangoi, born in 1964, is CEO of SANGOI GROUP, a family business founded in 1973 and now in its third generation, active as a flat product service center and as a manufacturer of metal components as well as finished products. During his career he has gained extensive experience in steel trading and in-depth knowledge of the Italian and international steel industry. His company has been an active member of Assofermet since 1977. Paolo Sangoi is currently in his second term as President of Assofermet Acciai, a role he has held since 2021.

Raffaele Ruella

CFO and Managing Director / AFV Beltrame Group

Raffaele Ruella has a long career in AFV Beltrame Group. Currently he is Managing Director, Executive Member of the Board of Directors and Group CFO, working closely with the Chairman and the Group CEO in defining strategic business guidelines. He is also responsible for Sustainability Projects and Head of Corporate Services, which include the Departments Finance, IT, Legal, Supply Chain, General Purchasing and Internal Audit. These are services external to the actual operations, managed individually by the countriesof the Group and coordinated at a central level, in order to define and implement a common strategy of efficiency and rigour. During his career in the Vicenza steel group, Ruella reached numerous achievements, including the conclusion and management of important financing and optimal governance of working capital. He played a key role in the recent launch of Chalibria, the Beltrame Group’s new carbon neutral steel brand, defining the organisational structure that centrally supervises and controls the project and the company’s commitment to sustainability, translating them into concrete targets, measurement systems and certifications. Graduated in Economics and Business with the highest marks, he has previously held the role of Managing Director at the listed company Socotherm and worked as a Senior Auditor at Deloitte, gaining solid experience in the sector. Highly competent and leading figure in the financial and administrative field, he has been able to bring concrete results in structuring and driving an efficient and innovative company, strong in industrial and commercial performance, solid in management and liquidity generation. His work contributes to the creation of the success of AFV Beltrame Group every year.

Ramy Saleh, Chief Business Development and Sustainability Officer El Marakby steel since end of 2016 serving the sustainable growth of the group. Prior to that Ramy worked for several multinational and international firms within the steel and construction industries for almost 20 years among them ArcelorMittal, EZZ steel, Kandil steel and Orascom Construction Industries. Tayfun Kocabaş completed his education in Industrial Engineering at Middle East Technical University and earned an MBA from Dokuz Eylül University. Kocabaş started his professional career in 2003, holding various positions in electronics, automotive, and consulting firms. In October 2014, he joined Erdemir and İsdemir as the Director of Operational Excellence, responsible of establishing a new department. Since 2014, he has continued his role as Director of Operational Excellence, integrating with strategic planning and sustainability efforts along with management systems. In addition, currently he is a member at the Board of Directors of Turkish Quality Association representing Erdemir.

Tayfun Kocabaş

Tayfun Kocabaş completed his education in Industrial Engineering at Middle East Technical University and earned an MBA from Dokuz Eylül University. Thomas is a graduate in business management by background with over 30 years’ experience in the international raw material, metals, minerals and mining resources industry.He has held senior executive positions across a range of disciplines including international business development, Structured Trade Finance, M&A projects and has managed large scale commodity and steel trading operations worldwide.His experience also includes international commercial management and EPCM contracts, most notably in China, West Africa and Middle East.In 2022 Thomas has joined Hangzhou CIEC Group as Chief Representative of European Markets.Between 2015 and 2018 he was CEO of Metalcorp Group B.V, the Netherlands, and Steel & Commodities (STEELCOM), Monaco, overlooking the group’s restructuring of the entire raw material and steel supply chain business in Europe.From 2002 until 2011 he was CEO of UNITED STEEL INDUSTRIES S.A.,Switzerland, managing relocations of distressed steel assets on turn-key basis from South East Asia to Middle East countries, securing and financing long term off-take agreements with reputable raw material and steel producers for the supply of required materials for those steel assets.During the 90`s, Thomas was Managing Director of Primary Industries Trading (Germany and Singapore) in charge of the raw materials (iron ore, coal & coke) and ferrous business from Eastern Europe to South East Asia.Thomas started his career in the international raw materials and steel business at SYTCO AG, Switzerland, is fluent in 4 languages (German, English, French, Croatian) and has been working most of his career in main international business hubs.
