Michael Uhrich is an accomplished economist and econometrician with more than 16 years experience advising businesses on their most challenging questions. Most recently, Michael served as chief economist at the American Iron and Steel Institute, where he analyzed the impacts of economic and policy conditions on the American steel industry and its end-use markets, led development of the association's American steel demand forecast and collaborated with allied associations from around the world to produce global steel demand projections. Michael also provided data and analytical support to AISI’s public policy work with organizations like the OECD, EPA, USTR, DOC, and many others.
Prior to joining AISI, Michael served as the chief economist at the Beer Institute, the trade association that supports American brewers and beer importers. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he advised various clients, both public and private, on myriad topics, ranging from beer pricing to air traffic controller staffing.
