Alessandro Sciamarelli holds the position of Director of Economic Studies and Market Analysis at the European Steel Association (EUROFER) based in Brussels, where he carries out economic research and analysis linked to the steel sector. Prior to joining EUROFER, he held for over ten years equivalent positions at other Brussels-based European associations (namely in the mortgage lending sector and the cement sector) and, before that, he worked for the Economic Studies Office of a leading cement and construction group in Rome and for the European Institute of Public Administration (EIPA) in Maastricht. He holds a PhD in Economics (1999) and a degree in political science (1995) from the University of Pisa, Italy.
Bahadır Tonguç began his professional career as a post-fixture officer in a family-owned ship management and chartering company in Istanbul. He worked as a shipbroker and chartering manager in renowned shipping companies before establishing his own shipping company Supramar Ltd in 2007. Since its establishment, Supramar has actively been involved in the logistics of bulk cargoes, general cargoes and industrial projects. Mr. Tonguc has also been managing other companies in the fields of maritime education (Martred Maritime Training Ltd.), agency services (Mirali Maritime Co.) and construction (BMK Construction Ltd.) Bahadir Tonguc is a founding member of the Turkish Shipbrokers Association, in addition to his roles in BIMCO, FONASBA and the Turkish Chamber of Shipping. He is a Chartered Shipbroker and the chairperson of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS) - Turkey Development Branch. He lectures at Piri Reis University.
After graduating from Bilkent University, Computer Engineering Department in 2002, he worked in the purchasing and strategic planning departments of Koc Holding Automotive group. He went to England for his master's degree in 2006 and completed his master's degree in Business Administration at Lancaster Management School. After getting his master’s degree, he worked as a consultant to companies in the field of business management. Returning to Turkey at the end of 2007, he took an active role from the first day of the MMK-Atakas installation project. After working as Sales Manager and Planning Manager at MMK Metalurji, he joined Atakas Group of Companies in 2013. He is currently working as the General Manager, responsible for the coal and steel sectors at Atakas Group of Companies.
George is a fundamentals analyst at NLMK Trading SA, scrutinizing global market trends for NLMK’s sales products to optimize sales and trading decisions. He has been in the metals industry for five years with previous roles in reporting and analysis at Argus Media and CRU International.
Born in 1966, Gokhan Demiruz has been actively involved in the flat steel sector since 1983. He graduated from the finance department of the economics faculty of Istanbul University in 1987. He is one of the founder members of YISAD, which was established in 2003. He has served as board member and secretary general of the association, and has been serving as chairman as of May 2016.
John Anton is the Steel Director of the IHS Pricing and Purchasing Service. The outlook for steel prices is formed by close monitoring of the industry and contact with executives at steel makers and end users. In addition to producing regular forecasts of steel production, demand and price, Mr. Anton is also responsible for managing the IHS relationship with major steel buyers involved in automotive, energy and pipeline companies, retailers, and manufacturing. Clients are located in the United States, Japan, India, East Asia, and Europe. Mr. Anton joined IHS and its predecessors in 1995. Prior to that time, he was in the private practice of law, specializing in small business representation and in criminal defense work. Before attending law school, Mr. Anton worked at the Bureau of Labor Statistics as an Economist/Statistician.
Kazuo Fujisawa joined NKK Corporation in 1982 and has held management positions in sales, engineering and in an assistant role to CEOs. After NKK merged with Kawasaki Steel to create JFE Steel in 2003, he has held positions in the Corporate Planning Department and Overseas Business Planning Dept. He was on the committees and the Board of Directors of California Steel Industries from 2003 to 2016. He is the member of worldsteel’s Communication Committee and Economic Committee. He has spoken at a number of steel conferences around the world. He graduated from Seattle University, USA and from Sophia University, Japan.
He has been working as Sales Manager in Pipe-Profile Producers & Re-Roller Segment in Çolakoğlu Metalurji A.Ş. since 2018. He had worked years between 2001-2010 in Borusan Group and experienced as Sales Manager in Oyak Metalurji between 2010-2018. Graduated from Zonguldak Karaelmas University as Mining Engineer and he has completed MBA education in Istanbul university.
Born in 1958, Muammer Bilgic graduated in 1983 from the Metallurgical Engineering Department of Middle East Technical University in Ankara. During his career, he has worked as an engineer and as an executive in various positions at Cukurova Celik, Cebitas, Metas, Kumas, Eregemetal, Sivas Demir Celik, Ferrocom, Cer Celik, Ecosid Ltd and Kocaer Celik. Since 2014, he has been serving as managing director of Bilecik Demir Celik. Muammer Bilgic has published industry analyses and articles in various professional publications on subjects such as steelmaking processes, the relation between refractory and steelmaking processes, and alternative raw materials for electric arc furnaces.
Tatçelik Sales Director Murat Demirci, who started his career as a Sales Representative, worked before as Sales and Purchasing Director in several companies such as Oyak, Borçelik, Kerim Çelik and Erdemir. Murat Demirci graduated from Department of Political Sciences and Public Administration (French) of Marmara University in 1998, and has 24 years of experience in the field of sales. Demirci manages now the sales activities of Tatçelik in domestic and international markets, and contributes to the expansion of the company’s customer portfolio.
Refet S. Gürkaynak is Professor and Head of the Department of Economics at Bilkent University. Gürkaynak is also a member of center for Economic Policy (London), center for Financial Studies (Frankfurt), CESIfo (Munich) and Science Academy. After graduating from Ankara College, Gürkaynak received his undergraduate and doctorate degrees in Economics from Bilkent and Princeton Universities, and worked as a visiting Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His research interests are monetary policy, financial markets and macroeconomics in general. His publications on these subjects have been published in the leading international journals of the field. Gürkaynak, who served as a consultant to the CBRT and the ECB, received awards from TÜBA, TÜBİTAK, The Central Bank of The Republic of Turkey and the European Central Bank for his work.
Sergey Frolov joined IMH Management Company in 2006 as Head of Marketing. In 2013 he was appointed Vice President for strategy and communications. Also, Sergey is a member of the Board of Directors of PJSC Koks and a member of the Executive Committee of IIMA. Sergey Frolov has graduated from the State University of Management. In 2005 he earned a Ph.D. in Metals&Mining Economics.
Su Changyong studied English literature and mechanical engineering at Luoyang Institute of Technology, where he received his bachelor’s degree in engineering in 1993. He also has an MBA from the University of Science and Technology in Beijing. Mr. Su started his career at Shougang Central Design Institute as a project coordinator in 1993. In 1997 he continued his career at China’s Ministry of Metallurgical Industry as foreign affairs officer in the Department of Foreign Affairs. In 1998, he became officer-in-charge at the State Administration of Metallurgical Industry of China. In 2000-2002, he served as director at the State Economic and Trade Commission of China. He gained further experience at US Steel China LLC in 2003-2005 as business development manager. In 2006, he became conference director at the Metallurgical Council of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (MC-CCPIT). In 2015, he was appointed director conference MC-CCPIT and director international cooperation at CISA. In 2019, he became deputy secretary general and director of the General Office and International Cooperation Dept., CISA. Sincer October 2020, he has served as deputy secretary general, CISA, and president of Metallurgical Industry Press (MIP).
Uğur Dalbeler has been working as the CEO of Colakoğlu Metalurji for many years now. Mr. Dalbeler is also a board member of the Turkish Steel Producers’ Association (TCUD), deputy chairman of the Turkish Steel Exporters’ Association (CIB) and a board member of IREPAS, the International Rebar Exporters and Producers Association and a representative at worldsteel Executive Committee.
Mr. Yayan got B.A. degrees from Faculty of Political Sciences of Ankara University in 1977 and Faculty of Law of the Istanbul University in 1987. Then he got his PhD degree from the Istanbul University Faculty of Economics in 1997. Mr. Yayan has diplomas from University of Michigan on Economy of Development and Population; from the University of Sussex on Labor Market Information System and Japan Int. Coop. Agency on Development and improvement of Employment. Mr. Veysel Yayan started his career as Reporter at the Republic of Turkey, Ministry of Trade in 1976. Then he worked at State Planning Organization, as Expert and Undersecretariat of Defense Industries, as Head of Department, Deputy Undersecretary and Acting Undersecretary until he retired in 1998. After serving 22 years for government from expert to Undersecretary levels between 1976-1998, he was appointed as Secretary General to the Turkish Steel Producers Association in 1998. On 25 September 2017, Dr. Yayan was appointed as Undersecretary to Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology. In August 2018, Yayan retired from government and returned to his position as Secretary General of Turkish Steel Producers Association. In addition to this position, Dr. Yayan has been the President of TOBB Ferrous and Nonferrous Metals Assembly since 2007.
